MAC Brings Back Discontinued Products

When I read this news, I had to see what MAC was bringing back. There are plenty of MAC products I’ve fallen in love with, just to find out that they won’t be making them anymore :(  But this time MAC is leaving things up to you!

They want you to head over to their MAC Facebook page and vote for the discontinued products you want to see back in stores! You can pick from 18 of the most requested lipsticks, glosses, and eyeshadows from past collections. The top 3 fan pics from each category will be available this July on maccosmetics.com .

The polls close March 30th, so get your vote in if you want your favorite products back ;)

In The Bag: NYX Cosmetics

I made a SERIOUS pit stop at Ulta today in search for nothing but NYX Cosmetics goodies. I first heard about this brand through a friend when I was home in Austin a few years back and I just can’t get enough of this stuff.

It’s definitely comparable to MAC Cosmetics (another brand every gal loves). The pigments are rich, they are pretty true to the shades shown, and best of all this brand is AFFORDABLE

As you can see above, I purchased a few different lipsticks ($4-$6 each), nude lipgloss shades ($6), an orange cream blush ($7), pearl loose shadow ($3), and cream eyeshadow ($5). Great deals huh? My favorite item is the hot pink rubber makeup case that snaps open and close. LOVE IT!

Product reviews coming up for you ladies ;)

Makeup Challenge Day 6: Emerald Eyes

Sometimes a little color goes a long way. Emerald green is such a flattering shade on brown skin tones. I took a green kohl liner and rimmed my bottom lashes as well as the outer corners of my lids. It gave me a lovely soft look, with a little surprise ;) This is an easy way to transition your 9-5 makeup straight into happy hour ;)

Time: 18 minutes

Tools: Rimmel London soft kohl liner pencil in “(035) Green Shimmer” (below), Cargo Blu_Ray powder foundation, NARS Dolce Vita Blush, Revlon Mineral Bronzer in Sunkiss, Cover FX concealer, Cover Girl Lash Blast Mascara, Revlon lipstick in “Soft Nude,” MAC creme sheen lipgloss in “Boybait”.

Learn From The Boss: Thia Breen

I love reading tidbits here and there on how to advance your career and tips on being successful. One of my favorite magazines to read is Marie Claire and I love their “Careers Section” of the magazine.

I recently read an article on Thia Breen (Estée Lauder’s President of North America). She oversees $3.6 billion in sales, 6,500 employees, and 28 brands, including Clinique and MAC. In the article she shared the most important lessons learned from 30 years in the beauty business.

Here are some of the highlights I wanted to share with you :)

Breen’s top 5 get-ahead rules

1. Never judge the customer. Everybody is a potential sale.

2. Be fearless about setting goals.

3. Ask for what you want or need. Men do it all the time. (She tells woman all the time that they could be better at letting people know, "This is the path that I want to be on - tell me as I’m moving forward if I’m doing the right things.")

4. Assume you won’t have a mentor along the way. (Breen had people who gave her breaks, but never took her under their wing. She said, ”I don’t consider it a key force in someone’s career, and I don’t think it happens all that much. Consider yourself lucky if you have a mentor and thrive under that tutelage. In most cases, you’re not going to have it. You’re going to have to manage your career for yourself.”)

5. Do no underestimate the power of punctuality.

Makeup Challenge Day 5: Copper Pigments

It’s so funny, that I chose to go with a very pigmented copper shadow on my lids. I used to wear colored eyeshadows all the time back in the day ;) Now I’m so used to keeping it simple with my favorite bronzer and blush and jazz things up with dramatic lashes or a dramatic lip, that I almost forgot what it was like to wear colors on my lids! lol I had to get used to it all day lol

Time: 25 minutes (maybe longer because I was moving slow lol)

Tools: Cover FX concealer, Cargo Blu_ray pressed powder, NARS Orgasm blush, NYX copper pigment shadow, Maybelline liquid liner, Mod half lashes, Benefit peach lip gloss, MAC seashell highlighter, Bare Minerals bronze eyeshadow

Makeup Challenge Day 4: Black Out

Last night I was out on the town celebrating my girlfriends birthday and decided to go with a subtle sexy smokey eye. I chose a pair of dramatic baby doll lashes to compliment my smokey eye and loved the end results!

Time: 35 minutes

Tools: Cover FX Concealer, MAC Mineralize Skinfinish foundation, Bobbi Brown bronzer, NARS Orgasm blush, Revlon Mineral Baked Bronzer, MAC eyeshadow in Carbon, Naked Palette, Bobbi Brown Tortoise Shell Palette, Forever 21 babydoll lashes, Revlon Soft Nude lipstick, MAC cremesheen gloss in Boy Bait.
