Liquid Sand Is That ‘New New’ With OPI Nail Polish

I love how nail polish has been evolving over these last couple of years. Crackle polish, nail strips, gel polish, nail decals, the options just seem limitless!

OPI nail polish just teamed up with Bond 007 to release a collection of six liquid sand nail lacquers. What makes these nail lacquers so different from the rest? Each one features a textured, matte finish infused with reflective sparkle fitting the allure surrounding the Bond Girls.

The six shades are named after some of the most iconic Bond girls, including: Solitaire, Pussy Galore, Tiffany Case, Vesper, Honey Ryder, and Jinx.

These six new shades will be available beginning May 2013, retailing at $9 each.

Product Review: OPI Euro Centrale Spring/Summer 2013 Collection

image

I posted the above picture on my Instagram a few weeks ago when I first received the new OPI Euro Centrale Spring/Summer 2013 collection. I am on polish overload and I am not complaining one bit lol.

The collection is a great transitional mix from winter to spring, but there were five specific colors that really grabbed my attention and stuck out from the rest! Here are my top five favorite shades!

My Vampire Is Buff

image

What I love most about this color, is the soft cream approach to a white polish. White nails are in for Spring and Summer and if the thought of stark white nails intimidate you, then this shade is a much more subtle way of pulling it off.

OPI…Eurso Euro

The photos just don’t do this color justice! It looks way more beautiful in person, but for some reason it just didn’t capture as well on camera. I would describe this color as a shade of violet with just the right amount of blue and purple.

This is how the color looks in natural lighting.

This is how it looks in the sun (sorry the sun was going down and I caught the rays).

You’re Such A Budapest

I have been looking for a lilac purple nail polish ever since I saw the photo of blogger Aimee Song wearing those Kanye West by Giuseppe Zanotti Cruel Summer heels. I don’t know if the color just looked great with sexy white heels or what, but I loved the look. The color “You’re Such A Budapest” is a perfect match and perfect for Spring.

I Saw…U Saw…We Saw…Warsaw

This is a pretty dark turquoise that again doesn’t translate the best on camera. If you’re into rocking dark hues in the Spring and Summer then this is your go-to (along with the OPI…Eurso Euro). Really pretty to go on your manicured toes.

Here is what the color looks like in natural lighting.

Can’t Find My Czechbook

This opaque light blue just screams summer to me! So fun it just makes me want to run my fingers through the ocean. I will definitely save this shade for when the weather warms up a bit, but I absolutely love it!

What do you think about the five favorites? Are there any shades you love even more from the Euro Centrale Collection?

Product Review: Mariah Carey for OPI

image

There was news back in August 2012 of super star Mariah Carey releasing her own nail polish line with the OPI brand.

It was only a matter of time before this limited edition collaboration surfaced, and it has finally hit the streets for the public to paint their talons with.

The collection features soft pinks, auburn’s, and purples, with a new colorful, textured addition to the OPI family called “Liquid Sand”. Meant to be worn without a top coat, this lacquer gives your nails a unique, textured, matte finish.

Check out some of the colors below:

“A Butterfly Moment” : This is a great “natural” color and is totally work appropriate in a corporate setting or even to wear for an interview.

image

image

“Anti-Bleak” : This color was very pretty, a perfect mix of magenta. Two coats are all you need.

image

image

“Sprung” : This color was a little tricky. As beautiful as it is in the bottle, you need three coats to get the right pigment otherwise it will be too sheer (like pictured on my nails). I think this color would be more flattering on a different skin tone.

The Liquid Sand “Stay The Night” : OPI mastered the shattered top coat, so naturally it’s time for something new, like liquid sand. The liquid sand also comes in a blue, purple, and red. Check out the results…

image

I applied 3 coats of this and I admit it may have been a little much because you can see how thick it looks. I wanted the black to be darker, so next time I just won’t be as generous when applying the 3 coats.

The shiny finish dries into a textured matte coat. It feels like a softer version of sandpaper.

Finished look after it dried…pretty cool.

What do you think about the way the Liquid Sand looks? Are you feeling the Mariah Carey for OPI collection?

Threads of the Day: Not So Candid Renae Cut Offs

image

Sometimes life requires you to push it to the limit.  That’s been my approach to a lot of things lately: when getting dressed every morning, picking up a new skill, and even making major career decisions. Just go for it!

But taking it back to the closet, it can be fun to push yourself to the limit! In my opinion it’s all about strategy and class. Pick an asset you want to focus on and keep the rest subtle. I chose my legs by rocking a pair of short, distressed Renae Cut Offs and over-the-knee socks. By focusing on my legs, I stayed bundled up on top and kept things simple on my feet.

Thread List:

-Shorts: Renae Cut Offs
-Gold leaf necklace:K’La Boutique
-Silver spike necklace: Forever 21
- “The Truth” necklace: Melody Ehsani
-Tiger ring: Forever 21
-Gold metallic belt: Zara
-Sweater: H&M
-Boots: Steve Madden
-Over-the-knee socks: random store

I was inspired by a street style photo I saw where a girl stacked three different necklaces on making it look like one big statement piece. I loved the idea and gave it a shot with my own little twist! What do you think? Success lol?

As far as my makeup goes, I decided to go with something neutral. Clean face, bronze skin, and a nude lip. Here are some of my favorites I’ve been wearing lately!

-YSL Faux Cils Mascara
-Sonia Kashuk bronzer in Goddess (40)
-Rimmel London Moisture Renew lipstick in “Nude Delight” (642).
-Dolce & Gabbana lipgloss in “Innocence”
-OPI nail polish in “Khloe Had A Little Lam Lam” (not pictured)

Can’t exit the scene without my rockstar impression! lol I hope everyone is having a great week!

Threads of the Day: It’s All In The Details

It was such a beautiful afternoon in Atlanta the other day, I decided to take a few quick outfit pics before I headed out. It’s clearly easier when I have someone to take them for me, so just bare with me and enjoy the accessory highlights.

What I’m wearing:

Floral sports jacket: H&M
White tank: Forever 21
Leather Pants: H&M
Vintage Versace Necklace: my grandmothers
Michael Kors Watch
Gold Point Bracelet & Stone Ring: Ka’la
Black Sandals: Zara
OPI Skyfall Collection nail polish in “Tomorrow Never Dies”

I love taking a simple outfit and really completing it by piling on the jewelry. Accessories are my best friends … preferably gold!

time to add some color to my nails…

It was warm enough for me to trade in my boots for a pair of open toe sandals, and that’s exactly what I did. I found these little gems at Zara on sale for like $10 (talk about a score) last summer. Zara has some of the best shoes, just make sure you get them when you see them, because most of the times they won’t be there (in your size) when you come back.

How do you like to style your simple outfits to make them your own?

OPI Skyfall James Bond 007 Collection

I love a good action flick, so what a perfect way for OPI to celebrate their 50th Anniversary of action hero icon, James Bond … and just in time for the nationwide premiere of Skyfall (out November 9th).

The Skyfall Collection features six shades that play off the movie’s seductive theme, and another six that offer a more dangerous look. Take a look at the 12 limited-edition colors and my top favorites below!

The shades in this collection are beautiful and perfect for fall! The shimmer and glitter give you options for all out glam or a subtle accent accessory on your ring finger. Here are my favorite four shades:

(with one coat of “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service” underneath)

The collection is in stores this month at Professional Salons, Dillards, ULTA, and JCPenny retailing at $8.50 each.

What do you think about the collection?

OPI Spotted Backstage at Spring/Summer 2013 New York Fashion Week

It’s time for a sneak peek of what’s in store for your talons for next Spring and Summer … I’m seeing a pattern of nudes and brights, with a pleasant twist of dark hues to rock this time next year. Take a look below at what OPI nail polish had prepared for models backstage at New York Fashion Week.

Houghton Spring/Summer 2013 Show

Models are wearing one coat of OPI “Don’t Pretzel My Buttons” on nails and toes, topped with a generous coat of the currently unreleased limited edition “The Man with the Golden Gun” 18k gold top coat (available in October).

*The gold is a little hard to see, but it’s done in a gradient pattern at the tip of the nail!

Jason Wu Spring/Summer 2013 Show

Models are wearing a deep blue-grey hue of “Suzi Skis in the Pyrenees” on the nails, and kept their toes classic with OPI lacquer in “Samoan Sand.”

Jenni Kayne Spring/Summer 2013 Show

Models are wearing a nude nail with bright yellow tips in “Need Sunglasses?” . The shade “Don’t Touch My Tutu” was used as a base to provide contrast with the accent hue.

These trends are pretty typical for spring and summer, but I like that OPI is carrying on with the fun nail designs to make things a little more interesting!

Side note: Talk about skin to die for … these faces are flawless!
