Threads of the Day: Keep It Chic

“Fashion fades, only style remains the same.” - Coco Chanel

I love high end labels … I mean really what girl doesn’t? But realistically my closet is more than a few pieces short of being lined with names like Philip Lim, Givenchy, and Balenciaga. ::le sigh::

So, let me clue you in on a secret about the above ensemble I put together. If you really have style then you could make a $10 look like a million bucks! It’s all about mixing high and low price points to look chic and on-trend.

And let’s not forget about the magic of thrifting! I love scoring finds from the thrift store because it’s pretty much a guarantee that no one else will have it. As long as you mix a thrift item in with something modern and of-the-moment, you won’t have any worries of looking like your sporting a costume.

Thread List:

High waist trousers: Thrifted
Crop Top: American Apparel
Heels: Zara
Bag: Forever21
Sunnies: Anna Dello Russo for H&M (I don’t wear them often because they are a little heavy and give me a headache lol)
Belt: BCBG
Necklace: My grandmother’s
Lipstick: Ka’oir in “Sex”

Always remember that you can still have major sex appeal and keep things classy at the same time! Crop tops are really big this season. Try pairing it with a full skirt, high waist jeans/shorts, or chic trousers like I did. I will definitely be pairing my crop top with a short suit set this summer!

As far as your makeup goes, I chose to rock a dark sultry lip and keep the rest of my makeup clean and simple. It’s all about making a statement. Pick one thing and rock it with confidence!

Threads of the Day: Leather on Leather

Yesterday I attended the BFAB Awards by Tastemaker Magazine, hosted at Ambient Studios Plus in downtown Atlanta. I was nominated for Top ATL Beauty Blogger and other influential Atlanta bloggers were also nominated and recognized for having a positive voice and strong influence in their community.

As far as my ensemble, I wanted to go for something chic and stylish. This cold weather will not let me be great, so I pulled out some lightweight leather pieces and a pair of gold wedge sandals to create my look.

Just so you know, you don’t always have to spend a fortune to look stylish. A true fashionista can look great on any budget. It’s all about mixing and matching price points and investing in quality, timeless pieces that will last. I don’t spend as much on trendy pieces because they are “in” this season and “out” the next.

Thread List:

Full leather skirt: H&M
Leather top: BCBG
Belt: BCBG
Gold wedge sandals: Zara (with OPI “Jade Is The New Black” on my toes)
Box clutch: Forever21
“Truth” necklace: Melody Ehsani
Screw Point Bracelet: K-La Boutique
Crystal Nail Ring: Topshop
Stacked rings: Express
Black jewel ring: Forever21

Here is a close up of my Zara wedge sandals purchased about a year ago. These are a great heel height and I love the dainty straps and pointy toe. I have narrow feet, and Zara shoes always seem to fit me just right! Plus they are affordable!

As you already know, I love to stack on jewelry! I rarely follow the rule of “taking one piece off before you leave the house” lol. I think it’s because my outfits are never really too busy with prints and patterns so that gives me a reason to keep stacking on rings, bracelets, etc. Hey let a girl live!

I totally forgot to get a close up shot of my makeup! But I wore a pair of my favorite lashes by Smoke & Mirrors Beauty. They are called the “Vegas” lashes and give your eyes this big doe eyed effect! Glamour to the fullest :)

Here are some more pictures of other fellow nominated bloggers at the BFAB Awards!

One of the biggest highlights of my day was finally getting a chance to meet Maeling Tapp, aka Natural Chica. I absolutely love her, and not to mention she’s gorgeous and super sweet :)

Of course, my blogger girlies Arkeedah and Lexi were nominated. Looking fab!

Congratulations to all the winners and thank you Tastemaker Magazine for the nomination.

Threads of the Day: Winter White

Ok I am itching for Spring to get here already! So to push things along a bit, I decided to break out my white jeans in honor of a “winter white” ensemble to wear to a chic hookah lounge with some girlfriends over the weekend. Clearly I don’t pay any mind to the “no white after Labor Day” rule. Who made that up anyway?

I wanted to focus my outfit around mixing prints and patterns in a semi monochromatic way. Black and white was my focal theme with a different spin of adding a pop of electric blue lipstick! So fun!

Thread List

Abercrombie & Fitch jeans
Zara beaded jacket
Top (gifted)
Zara strappy sandals
Custom blend blue lipstick by Lucienne Francois (contact her for your own custom lipstick at luciennefrncs92@gmail.com).

What items are you eager to whip out of your closet for Spring?

Threads of the Day: Renae Cut Offs

Yesterday I went to a blogger award reception at Tags Concept Salon for Tastemaker Magazine for the top fashion, style, beauty, and hair bloggers in Atlanta. I am super honored to have been nominated for Top Beauty Blogger and I can’t wait until the actual award show in March! Thanks again to everyone who voted for me, I can’t tell you enough how much I appreciate you :)

I wanted to keep it cool and chic and decided to rock my Renae Cut Offs to the event! Here are the rest of my outfit details.

Thread List:

Shorts: Renae Cut Offs
Blouse: Thrifted
Coat: Zara
Boots: Truth or Dare by Madonna (These were a super lucky find. I had no idea she even had a shoe line!)
Belt: BCBG
Clutch: Zara

When rocking short little shorts, I always like to balance it out with a classy top. The shorts and boots added the sex appeal while the classic white blouse and tweed coat kept everything proportioned. It’s all about balance ladies! You can get just as much (positive) attention by keeping it classy!

Big thanks again to Tastemaker Magazine!

Threads of the Day: All Black Almost Everything

image

I’ve been on chill mode extra heavy lately … mostly due to this cold weather and just wanting to stay warm. I went out for hot chocolate and desert with a friend the other day and took a few quick snaps of my outfit.

Simple, black, with a pop of leopard…

Thread List:

Forever 21 Varsity Jacket
H&M men’s beanie
Madewell jeans I cut at the knee
Steve Madden motorcycle boots (good ol faithfuls)
Zara leopard scarf
Forever 21 tiger ring
NARS Dragon Girl matte lip pencil

image

This jacket was such a lucky find! There were only like three left and one just happened to be my size … it was meant to be. I love the leather sleeves and pocket detailing. I’ve worn this in a casual way like pictured and also dressed up (future post to show you that one).

This day was a bad hair day lol. So the easiest method was to throw a beanie on the back of my head, poof the front a little and rock out. Dont you just love carefree days?

Usually I love to pile on the jewely. But I decided to go sans earrings and just rock a statement ring.

Oh, and the desert and hot chocolate were ahhmaaazzziiinnngg :)

Threads of the Day: It’s All In The Details

It was such a beautiful afternoon in Atlanta the other day, I decided to take a few quick outfit pics before I headed out. It’s clearly easier when I have someone to take them for me, so just bare with me and enjoy the accessory highlights.

What I’m wearing:

Floral sports jacket: H&M
White tank: Forever 21
Leather Pants: H&M
Vintage Versace Necklace: my grandmothers
Michael Kors Watch
Gold Point Bracelet & Stone Ring: Ka’la
Black Sandals: Zara
OPI Skyfall Collection nail polish in “Tomorrow Never Dies”

I love taking a simple outfit and really completing it by piling on the jewelry. Accessories are my best friends … preferably gold!

time to add some color to my nails…

It was warm enough for me to trade in my boots for a pair of open toe sandals, and that’s exactly what I did. I found these little gems at Zara on sale for like $10 (talk about a score) last summer. Zara has some of the best shoes, just make sure you get them when you see them, because most of the times they won’t be there (in your size) when you come back.

How do you like to style your simple outfits to make them your own?

Threads of the Night: Sporty Chic

Let me apologize in advance for the photo quality. My camera was not working last night so I had to resort to cell phone pics and Instagram to give me a hand.

The weather was really nice yesterday and not too chilly last night, so I decided to step out for a minute. I went with a sporty-chic look, rocking some fitted cargos, a varsity jacket, and open toe sandals. What winter rules? As long as the weather is nice, my toes will stay out! lol I blame it on the Texas in me.

image

What I’m wearing:

H&M cargo pants (gifted by a friend)
American Apparel racer back leotard
Zara strappy sandals
Forever 21 varsity jacket (loved the touch of the leather sleeves!)
Vintage belt
Vintage black triangle earrings
Forever 21 rosary necklace
Essie in “Fiji” on my fingers and toes

As for the makeup … a bright lip is becoming one of my signature looks. Can’t stay away from it! Last nights choice was a Dolce & Gabbana lipstick in “Delicious” with a Pure Color gloss by Estee Lauder in “Electric Coral” on top. Both are just as nice when worn alone as well.
