Essie Introduces New Line of Nail Wraps

Nail wraps … we’ve seen them line the shelves of drugstores nationwide and now Essie is trying to get a piece of the pie!

Essie has recently released their own set of “Sleek Stick” Nail Wraps in stores now. The 12 designs created by Essie Founder & Creative Director, Essie Weingarten, were inspired by the fashions seen on catwalks in New York and Milan.

(colors from L to R, top to bottom: Over the Moon, Oh My Gold!, A to Zebra, Sneek-E, Glam It On, Don’t Cheetah On Me, Croc ‘N Chic, Steel the Show, Embrace the Lace, Stickers and Stones, Love to Love You, So Haute!)

I am loving the animal print patterns (especially the croc & snake) as well as the purple decal with the faux diamonds lining the side.

I’ve seen nail decals that would be perfect for photo shoots or special occasions only (but how man of those are we going to?). These Essie wraps seem a little more muted and realistic to go with your everyday outfits and still last through the weekend.

At $10.25 each ($9.99 at ), each kit comes with an 18 nail applique strip, 1 cuticle strip, 1 nail file, a buffer and a sheet of instructions.

How do you feel about nail wraps? Are you on board or totally over this trend?

Threads of the Night: Sporty Chic

Let me apologize in advance for the photo quality. My camera was not working last night so I had to resort to cell phone pics and Instagram to give me a hand.

The weather was really nice yesterday and not too chilly last night, so I decided to step out for a minute. I went with a sporty-chic look, rocking some fitted cargos, a varsity jacket, and open toe sandals. What winter rules? As long as the weather is nice, my toes will stay out! lol I blame it on the Texas in me.

What I’m wearing:

H&M cargo pants (gifted by a friend)
American Apparel racer back leotard
Zara strappy sandals
Forever 21 varsity jacket (loved the touch of the leather sleeves!)
Vintage belt
Vintage black triangle earrings
Forever 21 rosary necklace
Essie in “Fiji” on my fingers and toes

As for the makeup … a bright lip is becoming one of my signature looks. Can’t stay away from it! Last nights choice was a Dolce & Gabbana lipstick in “Delicious” with a Pure Color gloss by Estee Lauder in “Electric Coral” on top. Both are just as nice when worn alone as well.

Essie Opens Its First Flagship Nail Salon

One of the most popular (and one of my favorite) nail polish brands coating the talons of millions of women everywhere, is opening its first flagship nail salon in possibly a city near you. You guessed it … essie!

Essie went with a newly renovated, clean, white space adorned with vibrant pink and purple lounge chairs. Let’s not forget the slew of classic and signature essie nail varnish lining the wall … over 250 shades to be exact.

For those ladies who enjoy a lavish and luxurious mani and pedi, manicures will start at $32 and pedicures at $65.

The space officially opens next Tuesday, June 26th in New York City, on 65th Street and Madison Avenue.

Essie is bringing its talent just in time for your next summer mani and pedi! “Mojito Madness" anyone?

Anyone else ready for Spring?

In The Nude: Top 5 Nude Nail Polishes

(left to right: Essie “Brooch the Subject”, Sally Hansen #240 “Choco-Latte”, OPI “Step Right Up”, Sally Hansen Insta-Dri #04 “Petal Pusher”, and OPI “Makes Men Blush”)

As a lover of anything dealing with nails and nailpolish … I thought it would only be right to help you ladies choose the right shade of nude for the Spring. Whether you work in a conservative/corporate environment or you just want to rock something soft and subtle, there’s a shade of nude out there for everyone.

It took me quite some time to find the right shade, but a few years later lol, I have 2 top favorites, and 3 more great shades that follow :)

Essie “Brooch the Subject” $8 (my favorite)

This is my favorite nude shade because it’s opaque and still shows up like a rich color. Even though I’m going for a nude look, I don’t always want sheer. I bought it from Target about a month back.

Sally Hansen “Choco-Latte” $6

The Sally Hansen collection has honestly taken me by surprise. The Choco-Latte shade not only had a lot of pigment, but also had pretty peach undertones. Another great, affordable find.

OPI “Step Right Up” $8.50

This OPI shade leaned more towards a pale ballerina pink. I have on two coats below (which was a little streaky), but three would give you more of an opaque shade if you desire more pigment.

Sally Hansen “Petal Pusher” $4

This Sally Hansen color is from their Insta-Dri line. The major difference with these polishes is that it includes a wide polish brush that’s meant to make it easier to polish your nails in fewer brush strokes, without it looking streaky. Two coats gave me a little more of a sheer finish.

OPI “Makes Men Blush” $8.50

Finally this OPI shade in “Makes Men Blush” (which is such a cute name!) is a color I would wear if I were in a rush and needed a nice, sheer nude polish on my nails. It won’t give you an opaque finish, but on nicely manicured nails, still looks polished & feminine.

Which nude shade do you like best? Do you have any other recommendations for nude polishes you fell in love with?
