Product Review: MAKE UP FOR EVER Pro Finish Foundation

image

MAKE UP FOR EVER just released their first new foundation in over four years called Pro Finish Multi-Use Powder Foundation. It is a unique multi-use compact foundation that is formulated to be applied wet or dry. When applied wet, it’s said to deliver a sheer, satin coverage and when applied dry it’s said to offer a full, matte coverage.

The foundation comes in a circular compact with a sponge tucked underneath in a bottom compartment of the compact.

My face is usually a lighter shade than the rest of my body, so when it comes to picking out my color of foundation, I tend to go a shade darker than my natural skin tone. I also do this because I like to look “tan” year round lol.

Words of advice when having to choose your color based on what is pictured online (like I had to do)…

-It’s safer to go with the darker choice. Especially since summer is right around the corner, you can “grow” into your darker shade.
-If you are ordering online, google image the color you want, and see if any pictures come up with complexions that are close to yours.
-Do a little research. Read reviews about the color and the way the foundation lasts all day. If you have dry skin and the foundation is matte, you may want to go with something has more of a dewy finish to add moisture back into your skin.

I chose a shade with a neutral/yellow undertone, #174 Neutral Saffron.

Ok on to the review.

BEFORE picture with no makeup. Don’t go too hard on me lol.

I applied the foundation on half of my face using the dry sponge technique. It definitely gave me a matte finish. I usually prefer something that is a little more dewy, but the color is right on.

AFTER picture of the foundation applied to my entire face in addition to my normal makeup routine.

I like the new Pro Finish Foundation. It gave me the coverage I was looking for while still appearing “natural”. I didn’t care to apply the foundation using the sponge, so on the other side of my face I used a big fluffy powder brush which still gave me great coverage and didn’t come across as being so matte. I’ll try the wet sponge technique next time to see if it gives me more of a dewy finish.

Overall, Make Up Forever’s Pro Finish Multi-Use Foundation gets a thumbs up from me!

It comes in 25 different colors with neutral, pink, and golden undertones (so virtually a shade out there for everyone), and retails at $36 each. You can find the foundation at the Make Up For Ever counter at Sephora stores.

Product Review: Urban Decay Naked Skin Liquid Foundation

As much as I love a clean fresh face, it’s also nice to have a foundation that gives you a little coverage and still looks natural. Cakey faces are sooo 1990’s should never happen!

Enter … Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Ultra Definition Liquid Foundation (that was a mouth full).

I’m trying my best not to jump to the conclusion as I write this because I have absolutely nothing bad to say about this product. I loved it! (Ok…I just jumped to it lol)

As you can see the consistency of the foundation is light (as it drips down my hand), and personally I go a shade darker in my foundation because my face is pale and I like to look tan all year round. Whenever I “match” my foundation, it’s too light for me and doesn’t match the rest of my body. So in this foundation, the 9.0 shade was a perfect match.

Here are some before and after photos so you can get a feel of the coverage the Naked foundation gives you.

BEFORE- (no makeup…just lip balm) I know, I know … I’m pale. lol

AFTER - I applied the foundation from the back of my hand using my fingers to warm it up into my skin.

What I liked most about the Naked Skin Liquid foundation was how light it felt on my skin, and it still gave the illusion of having no makeup on while evening out my complexion.

I have combination-oily skin, and throughout the day I really didn’t need to worry too much about touch-ups. And the photos above are just foundation, no powder on top or anything.

Have any of you ladies tried the Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation? If you have I want to hear your thoughts in the comments! If you have any questions, let me know :)

You can find the foundation at Sephora stores for $38.

xoxo

Foundation Tips:
STICK: is good for dry to medium skin.
LIQUID: offers sheer to full coverage, depending on your skin type.
POWDER: is great for oily skin.
TINTED MOISTURIZER: is a go-to formula for light application and great skin.
How to choose a foundation:
Foundation in the right shade will disappear into the skin, and the wrong shade will change the color of your face. You have to try different shades to know which one is for you (preferably before buying the product if you’re in a department store). Looking at foundation in natural light by a window or outside is the best lighting to test the color.
(Double check the foundation color on your forehead, where the skin is sometimes darker. If it matches on the forehead, it will work everywhere.)

L’OREAL True Match Foundation: $9-$11

Ahhh the choices the choices! This foundation goes on sheer and gives you a seamless finish with good coverage and never cakes up. I’ve used this product on many of my clients at photo shoots and I always love the way it looks on their skin. Great for every day use as well :) Not only is this foundation affordable, but each has a color indicator on the bottle of “warm,” “cool,” and “neutral” specific for each individual person’s skin undertones. Super helpful for a perfect match!
