Threads of the Day: Plain Jane

Some of my best dressed days are the days where I just “throw something on”. Those days are when I feel most comfortable, confident, and just … myself. Today was one of those days.

There’s power in style. Look past the brand, how much it cost, where you got it from … if you have style and know how to put an outfit together, you can feel powerful in whatever you wear.

My kryptonite in a sense are these white “Ked-like” sneakers. I wear them almost everyday lol. They go with everything! The perfect summer staple paired perfectly with jeans, cut off shorts, dresses, skirts, leggings, you name it. Yes, my only gripe is that they get dirty super fast, but lucky for me, the 2 for $30 sneaker deal at Urban Outfitters has me covered ;)

Now I love a great pair of vintage high waisted jeans, or “mom jeans”, as some would call them. I put my skills to work and added a little distressing in just the right places. Remember ladies, you can still be sexy and remain classy at the same time. Sexy doesn’t have to mean “show it all to everyone.” In the near future, I’ll pair these with some strappy sandals and a bustier top for a different approach for a night on the town!

Thread List:

Top: No Style
Jeans: Renae Cut Offs
Sneakers: Urban Outfitters
Necklace: Nasty Gal

What’s your go-to look that just works every time you “throw it on”?

Threads of the Day: Posh & Chucks

Casual, chic fits are my go-to look. I love the mixture of effortlessly pairing a pencil skirt with some classic Chuck Taylors, a simple tank, and for the sake of this chilly weather, layering on a varsity jacket to stay warm.

A sexy lace bra peeking out from underneath never hurt anyone ;)

Thread list:

-Pencil Skirt: Forever21
-“Black” Tank: H&M
-Varsity Jacket: Forever21
-White Converse Chuck Taylors
-Melody Ehsani “Truth” Necklace
-Clutch: Forever21
-Rings: ASOS

I usually keep my makeup simple with a bold lip as the focal point. Today I chose a new lipgloss by Black Opal from their ColorSplurge Patent Lips collection called “Posh”. The color is so vibrant and pigmented straight from the tube! You could add a lip liner for a little staying power but overall you don’t really need a liner or lipstick layered underneath!

You can find the Black Opal ColorSplurge Collection at select CVS stores, Walmart, or online at www.BlackOpalBeauty.com. The Patent Lips lipgloss retails at $6.75 each. Steal!

I hope everyone had a great, productive week and be sure to live it up this weekend!

Threads of the Day: All Black Almost Everything

image

I’ve been on chill mode extra heavy lately … mostly due to this cold weather and just wanting to stay warm. I went out for hot chocolate and desert with a friend the other day and took a few quick snaps of my outfit.

Simple, black, with a pop of leopard…

Thread List:

Forever 21 Varsity Jacket
H&M men’s beanie
Madewell jeans I cut at the knee
Steve Madden motorcycle boots (good ol faithfuls)
Zara leopard scarf
Forever 21 tiger ring
NARS Dragon Girl matte lip pencil

image

This jacket was such a lucky find! There were only like three left and one just happened to be my size … it was meant to be. I love the leather sleeves and pocket detailing. I’ve worn this in a casual way like pictured and also dressed up (future post to show you that one).

This day was a bad hair day lol. So the easiest method was to throw a beanie on the back of my head, poof the front a little and rock out. Dont you just love carefree days?

Usually I love to pile on the jewely. But I decided to go sans earrings and just rock a statement ring.

Threads of the Day: It’s All In The Details

It was such a beautiful afternoon in Atlanta the other day, I decided to take a few quick outfit pics before I headed out. It’s clearly easier when I have someone to take them for me, so just bare with me and enjoy the accessory highlights.

What I’m wearing:

Floral sports jacket: H&M
White tank: Forever 21
Leather Pants: H&M
Vintage Versace Necklace: my grandmothers
Michael Kors Watch
Gold Point Bracelet & Stone Ring: Ka’la
Black Sandals: Zara
OPI Skyfall Collection nail polish in “Tomorrow Never Dies”

I love taking a simple outfit and really completing it by piling on the jewelry. Accessories are my best friends … preferably gold!

time to add some color to my nails…

It was warm enough for me to trade in my boots for a pair of open toe sandals, and that’s exactly what I did. I found these little gems at Zara on sale for like $10 (talk about a score) last summer. Zara has some of the best shoes, just make sure you get them when you see them, because most of the times they won’t be there (in your size) when you come back.

How do you like to style your simple outfits to make them your own?

Threads of the Night: Sporty Chic

Let me apologize in advance for the photo quality. My camera was not working last night so I had to resort to cell phone pics and Instagram to give me a hand.

The weather was really nice yesterday and not too chilly last night, so I decided to step out for a minute. I went with a sporty-chic look, rocking some fitted cargos, a varsity jacket, and open toe sandals. What winter rules? As long as the weather is nice, my toes will stay out! lol I blame it on the Texas in me.

What I’m wearing:

H&M cargo pants (gifted by a friend)
American Apparel racer back leotard
Zara strappy sandals
Forever 21 varsity jacket (loved the touch of the leather sleeves!)
Vintage belt
Vintage black triangle earrings
Forever 21 rosary necklace
Essie in “Fiji” on my fingers and toes

As for the makeup … a bright lip is becoming one of my signature looks. Can’t stay away from it! Last nights choice was a Dolce & Gabbana lipstick in “Delicious” with a Pure Color gloss by Estee Lauder in “Electric Coral” on top. Both are just as nice when worn alone as well.

Threads of the Day: Tie Dye Effect

I celebrated my birthday in Chicago this weekend and had a blast with my family and closest friends! It was definitely chilly in the windy city, which called for me to dust off my leather jacket and bring it along for the trip.

I chose to go with a dress that was ladylike, light, and flowy, and of course edge it up with a structured jacket & motorcycle boots.

What I’m wearing:

-All Saints maxi dress
-Bebe leather jacket
-Steve Madden motorcycle boots
-Rebecca Minkoff bag
-Thrifted gold studded belt

-Chicago wind ;)

I’m already missing the warm weather! lol

Threads of the Day: Mint Instinct

Today was such a beautiful day! I couldn’t be happier that Spring has finally arrived! My Texas roots had me fiending for the warm weather to show it’s face lol. Hope you like my threads of the day … I’d like to think of it as a mint themed day :)

What I’m wearing:

-H&M mint blouse
-Madewell jeans
-Zara heels
-Jimmy Choo bag (Amazing thrift find ;)…one’s lady’s trash is another lady’s treasure!)
-My favorite Michael Kors watch

There’s nothing wrong with a little tasteful, lacy bra that peeks out from time to time. These gold & turquoise earrings I got at a boutique back in Austin, the necklace is an oldie I stumbled up on while perusing through my jewelry box. Shades … from Walmart. Crazy huh? I’m the last gal to judge a book by its cover ;)

Thank you thrift Gods for lookin’ out for a playa!

I sure hope everyone else is out and about enjoying this weather :)
