Threads of the Day: Spy Discord Sunnies + $6 Jumper

image

I feel like winter just snuck up on us. What happened to fall? I should probably blame my feelings on being spoiled by perfect Texas weather. Le sigh.

I found this white cotton jumper at Goodwill this summer for six bucks. Score! But I never had a chance to wear it, so I thought, what the heck, and whipped it out to sport in a winter fashion. There are very few summer pieces that can still translate well in the winter without looking completely out of season. I believe this jumper is one of them.

Sometimes all that is required to throw on is a funky leather jacket, a pair of worn in motorcycle boots, simple accessories, and a great pair of sunnies.

Thread list:

Jumper: Goodwill
Leather jacket: Zara
Motorcycle boots: Steve Madden
Accessories: Forever21

Sunnies: c/o SPY Discord (Breast Cancer edition)

Although Breast Cancer Awareness month is over, it’s never too late to support and contribute where and when you can.

Breast Cancer hits close to home for me because my grandmother passed from the disease. Thank you to the SPY brand for not only gifting me with a limited edition pair to support the cause, but also for giving me an additional pair to gift to one of my followers.

I’ll be doing my first giveaway with the SPY Discord sunnies pictured, so stay tuned!

Threads of the Day: Back to the Basics

image

Sometimes I think people can forget the power of basic pieces. I don’t have a lot of prints in my wardrobe, because I’m always wanting to get the most out of my clothing. So unless I’m feeling adventurous, if I’m holding up a black top versus the same top in a mutli-colored pattern … odds are I’ll choose the black because it’s more versatile.

Today was one of those days where I was in a chill mood, but still wanted to feel stylish. I love the denim on denim look, and because Summer is winding down, I still have a little time to rock more of my “summery” items a couple more times.

image

Thread list:

Denim shorts: Renae Cut Offs
Denim jacket: Renae Cut Offs
Tank: Zara
Shoes: Jeffrey Campbell

image

With a casual cool look like this, your makeup and hair should be effortless. I love big messy hair, there’s just something so imperfect about it. Like you gave a sh*t that day, but didn’t really give a sh*t.

image

This look can easily be paired with heels (I would say nude or black…something to keeps things simple and effortless) or even some cool white sneakers. Casual to dressy just like that!

image

These heels make me super tall (I’m already 5’8), but they make me feel so sexy because of the high arch. The blush color of the wedge is a fresh alternative to nude (which I never find a nude that matches my skin tone anyway).

What do you think about bringing things back to the basics?

Threads of the Day: Effortlessly Chic

image

Hey love bugs! If you follow me on Instagram, I’m always talking about the ease of effortless style. I admire women who dress with class, are still on trend, and pull it off seamlessly and tastefully.

I’m the type of girl who doesn’t like to put a lot of thought into her outfits, and doesn’t bother purchasing anything that is too fussy. I like to feel comfortable, chic, trendy, and of course effortless.

image

You would be amazed at what you can do with a simple approach to your wardrobe, piecing fits together that are simple but still make a statement. To keep from being too plain, I love to jazz up a minimalistic look with accessories and the right shoes!

image

Thread list:

Zara sleevess blazer
Abercrombie & Fitch jeans
Forever21 basic tank
Zara heels
Topshop necklace

When shopping, I’m always keeping my eyes open for timeless pieces like this off-white Zara sleeveless blazer (which I snagged the last one on sale! Yay!), and a great pair of strappy black sandals. These are the kind of pieces that will go with everything and last you years longer than a trend. But don’t get me wrong, I love trendy pieces as well, but I believe you should always invest in timeless pieces over trendy ones.

Keep it effortless.

Threads of the Day: Black Mob

image

The weather in Atlanta has been really crazy lately. It’s hot and sunny one day and raining with flash flood warnings the next. So the other day I took full advantage of the semi-nice weather and went on a nice day date to the Georgia Aquarium and lunch downtown at a super cute seafood restaurant.

I love a fem tomboy look. I always try to balance this look with a bit of casual and sexy pieces to make it all come together. It’s all about balance. So if you want to wear a crop top with your stomach out, balance it out with slightly baggy cargo pants or boyfriend jeans and strappy sandals so you don’t appear overly sexy.

image

Thread List:

"Black Mob" crop top: Thrifted
Cargo Pants: Blank NYC from Loehmann’s
Zara Sandals
BCBG Clutch
BCBG & VSXNSTA rings
Michael Kors Watch
Panache Evil Eye bracelet

You already know how much I love to surf the thrift stores, so I was super hype when I found this “Black Mob” t-shirt in the men’s aisle. I cut that bad boy into a crop top, rolled the sleeves up a couple of times and called it a day.

image

Sometimes you have to add that one key piece that kind of “throws everything off” but matches at the same time. That item was my iridescent BCBG clutch. I love the sporty/chic look it gives off! Another tip is regarding your shoes…they can either make or break your outfit. I went for a gold strappy sandal to add some spice to the tomboy look and switched into my white ked-like sneakers for a casual feel later in the day. (Always have a backup!)

image

Because I dress relatively simple, I love to pile on jewelry and accessories. I went with a mixture of dainty rings, my Panache evil eye bracelet gifted to me by a follower on Instagram, and my favorite Michael Kors watch. Finally I’m sporting “My Vampire is Buff” by OPI on my nails.

What is your go-to fem tomboy chic look? I’ve had a couple of people request a workout and diet post on the blog. Comment below if that’s something you would like for me to post!

Threads of the Day: Keep It Chic

"Fashion fades, only style remains the same." - Coco Chanel

I love high end labels … I mean really what girl doesn’t? But realistically my closet is more than a few pieces short of being lined with names like Philip Lim, Givenchy, and Balenciaga. ::le sigh::

So, let me clue you in on a secret about the above ensemble I put together. If you really have style then you could make a $10 look like a million bucks! It’s all about mixing high and low price points to look chic and on-trend.

And let’s not forget about the magic of thrifting! I love scoring finds from the thrift store because it’s pretty much a guarantee that no one else will have it. As long as you mix a thrift item in with something modern and of-the-moment, you won’t have any worries of looking like your sporting a costume.

Thread List:

High waist trousers: Thrifted
Crop Top: American Apparel
Heels: Zara
Bag: Forever21
Sunnies: Anna Dello Russo for H&M (I don’t wear them often because they are a little heavy and give me a headache lol)
Belt: BCBG
Necklace: My grandmother’s
Lipstick: Ka’oir in “Sex”

Always remember that you can still have major sex appeal and keep things classy at the same time! Crop tops are really big this season. Try pairing it with a full skirt, high waist jeans/shorts, or chic trousers like I did. I will definitely be pairing my crop top with a short suit set this summer!

As far as your makeup goes, I chose to rock a dark sultry lip and keep the rest of my makeup clean and simple. It’s all about making a statement. Pick one thing and rock it with confidence!

Threads of the Day: Leather on Leather

image

Yesterday I attended the BFAB Awards by Tastemaker Magazine, hosted at Ambient Studios Plus in downtown Atlanta. I was nominated for Top ATL Beauty Blogger and other influential Atlanta bloggers were also nominated and recognized for having a positive voice and strong influence in their community.

image

As far as my ensemble, I wanted to go for something chic and stylish. This cold weather will not let me be great, so I pulled out some lightweight leather pieces and a pair of gold wedge sandals to create my look.

Just so you know, you don’t always have to spend a fortune to look stylish. A true fashionista can look great on any budget. It’s all about mixing and matching price points and investing in quality, timeless pieces that will last. I don’t spend as much on trendy pieces because they are “in” this season and “out” the next.

Thread List:

Full leather skirt: H&M
Leather top: BCBG
Belt: BCBG
Gold wedge sandals: Zara (with OPI “Jade Is The New Black” on my toes)
Box clutch: Forever21
"Truth" necklace: Melody Ehsani
Screw Point Bracelet: K-La Boutique
Crystal Nail Ring: Topshop
Stacked rings: Express
Black jewel ring: Forever21

image

Here is a close up of my Zara wedge sandals purchased about a year ago. These are a great heel height and I love the dainty straps and pointy toe. I have narrow feet, and Zara shoes always seem to fit me just right! Plus they are affordable!

As you already know, I love to stack on jewelry! I rarely follow the rule of “taking one piece off before you leave the house” lol. I think it’s because my outfits are never really too busy with prints and patterns so that gives me a reason to keep stacking on rings, bracelets, etc. Hey let a girl live!

I totally forgot to get a close up shot of my makeup! But I wore a pair of my favorite lashes by Smoke & Mirrors Beauty. They are called the “Vegas” lashes and give your eyes this big doe eyed effect! Glamour to the fullest :)

Here are some more pictures of other fellow nominated bloggers at the BFAB Awards!

One of the biggest highlights of my day was finally getting a chance to meet Maeling Tapp, aka Natural Chica. I absolutely love her, and not to mention she’s gorgeous and super sweet :)

Of course, my blogger girlies Arkeedah and Lexi were nominated. Looking fab!

Congratulations to all the winners and thank you Tastemaker Magazine for the nomination.

Threads of the Day: Winter White

Ok I am itching for Spring to get here already! So to push things along a bit, I decided to break out my white jeans in honor of a “winter white” ensemble to wear to a chic hookah lounge with some girlfriends over the weekend. Clearly I don’t pay any mind to the “no white after Labor Day” rule. Who made that up anyway?

I wanted to focus my outfit around mixing prints and patterns in a semi monochromatic way. Black and white was my focal theme with a different spin of adding a pop of electric blue lipstick! So fun!

Thread List

Abercrombie & Fitch jeans
Zara beaded jacket
Top (gifted)
Zara strappy sandals
Custom blend blue lipstick by Lucienne Francois (contact her for your own custom lipstick at luciennefrncs92@gmail.com).

What items are you eager to whip out of your closet for Spring?
